SunGard's Brokerage & Clearance Segment products and services support the middle and back office functions for trade processing, clearance and settlement, data management, tax reporting and accounting, helping broker-dealers, banks, futures commissions merchants, hedge funds, tax processors, exchanges, research firms and public companies streamline operations, control risk and manage cost. We provide solutions focused on helping our customers integrate systems and data to streamline operations in order to reduce cost, mitigate risk and understand enterprise-wide exposure.
As the Brokerage and Clearance Segment Tax Practice Lead you will identify, source and lead consulting opportunities with the Segment�s global financial services clients, focusing on building a global tax consulting practice employing SunGard and other resources. The Director will have a call on all of the SunGard's expertise and resources to staff projects, working closely with Product Line management, especially the Wall Street Concepts product line. Additionally, the Director will work with SunGard Consulting Services on Segment and Cross Disciplinary initiatives as well as with third party Subject Matter Experts as needed.
Develop New Business
Meet with client "C-level" and other executives to identify and subsequently sell consulting and professional services. The focus will be on engagements and assignments in and around tax reporting, form and filing preparation, and proper tax processing of transactions in a financial services setting. Participate in practice management which includes tools, methodologies, recruiting, people development and proposals as appropriate. Work with Segment sales and other client facing staff to educate staff and clients, with a goal of maximizing revenue and profitability. Identify future opportunities as projects and assignments progress.
Manage Scope of Projects
Identify and quantify client business requirements. Provide leadership to both internal and client teams to identify, quantify, implement and measure success of projects.
Lead team efforts in developing solutions to difficult or complex client situations to ensure goals and objectives are met. Lead and focus team efforts in data gathering and analysis, data interpretation, process design and formulating conclusions and recommendations.
Client Communication/Satisfaction
Communicate effectively with all levels of client management, including C level client leadership. Meet and manage client expectations surrounding delivery of generated results. Communicate regularly with client's management to assess satisfaction with the implementation process and address issues, questions and concerns.
Manage Staff and Resources
Lead development of work plans and coordinate daily fieldwork and project team activities. Utilize tracking tools to measure project progress, benefits provided to clients, and achievement of budget expectations. Report same to internal and external constituencies. Effectively direct, coach, motivate and evaluate team members where appropriate. Manage performance of deliverables against cost, time and quality metrics
Strong and established track record in selling, shaping and delivering tax services, including tax reporting, form and filing preparation, and proper tax processing of transactions in a global financial services setting. Demonstrated ability to identify and pursue potential new strategic opportunities. Deep knowledge of the US tax code and related requirements. A strong familiarity with additional non-US major tax regimes is preferred. Project Management experience, including creating work plans, budgets, managing budget to actual, goal setting/benchmarks and delivering on client expectations. Deep knowledge of Information Systems/Business Consulting Methodologies is strongly preferred. Ability to actively manage and deliver on client expectations around project activities, timelines, deliverables, outcomes, etc. Proven analytical and process redesign skills, including problem solving, quantitative reasoning, workflow process, etc. Demonstrated strong leadership and teamwork skills, particularly with highly diverse, cross functional global teams. Experience leading project teams and co-workers, and ability to coach and mentor staff. Senior Executive Presence-Experienced and comfortable with Senior Level (e.g. CIO/COO/ Business Head) executives presenting the SunGard value proposition and identifying short and long term opportunities for consulting solutions. Ability to provide targeted communication, both verbal and written, to internal and external constituents. Possess the following skill sets: Detailed oriented Solid written and documentation skills Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and presentation skills Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment Desire to do meaningful work and make a difference Network of contacts and relationships. Experience preparing for and negotiating contracts (preferred).
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Tax, Information Science or a related field. Masters degree in a related field is preferred. 7 - 10 years experience working in the field of Tax 3-5 year experience in a Professional Services/Consulting capacity.
